My Awesome Kroger Trip

I ran into Kroger with the girls this afternoon to see if they had any of the free Dove shampoo as part of the Mega Sale and to scope out the small sized Motrin (I asked Publix to order some but they said they were no longer available).  I was skeptical to drag the girls in, but I decided to embrace the chaos, sing a few songs, and bribe them with the indoor playground (Chick-fil-A) if they were good.  Everything fell into place perfectly!!!!  Here's the breakdown (pricing includes the automatic $5 deduction for the Mega Sale):

2 Heluva Good Dips - $.99 each.  I paid $.48 for both.  Used 2 of the $.75/1 Heluva Good Dips from 1/26 SS insert.

1 Dove Men+Care Shampoo - $2.49.  I paid $-.01!  Used $2.50/1 Dove Men+Care Shampoo from 3/23 RP insert.  (I could only find 1 of these - darn it!!!)

2 Axe Shampoo - $2.99 each.  I paid .98 for both.  Used 2 of the $2.50/1 Axe Hair Care from 3/23 RP insert.

4 Motrin - $.99 each.  I paid $-2.04!  Used 2 of the $3/2 Motrin from 3/9 RP insert.

My total at the register was $-.59, or $.71 after tax!  It seriously felt good to have 1 good shop this week!

Thanks couponaholic.net for the tip on the Motrin AND krogerkrazy.com for the matchups!!!!

Week 34 - My Weekly Shop

It's Spring Break week and I've had a difficult time shopping with my girls.  I never had an issue shopping with them when they were babies - I literally had my double stroller, a back carrier for my oldest and I dragged a cart behind.  Now that they can walk and get in and out of the car on their own you would think it would be easier.  It is NOT.  They NEED things.  They WANT things.  And they are BUSY.  I can't say I blame them.  It is Spring Break after all - they know this is our special time.  That being said, I do not consider this a very successful shop - none of the money-makers I had planned worked out, I didn't have a clear cut plan for the homeless, etc.  I did notice quite a few different regional prices on BOGO's that are awesome, so I will definitely be going back for this ad.  Here's the breakdown:

1 Publix Ground Pork - $1.82.  No coupons used.

4 Quaker Oatmeal - $2.98 BOGO, or $5.96 for all 4.  No coupons used.  These are for the homeless.

2 Purex - $6.99 BOGO.  I paid $3.99 for both.  Used 2 of the $1.50/1 Purex No Sort from 3/16 RP insert. Two things on this: 1.  This is for the 100oz.  My price point is $1.50 or less for 50oz, so $2 each was a good price.  2.  This is eligible for the Upromise or SavingStar $5 rebate wyb $20 worth of product.

3 HP Aloha Morning - 2/$4!  I paid $1.00 for all 3.  Used 3 of the $1/1 HP Aloha Morning from 3/16 SS AND 1 B2G1 HP Publix coupon from green "Healthy Savings" flyer.  Note - these are not 3/$7 in my store!!!

1 Disney Gummy Vites - $4.50.  I paid $2.50.  Used $2/1 Disney Vitamins Kroger mailer coupon.

1 Publix Bread Crumbs - $1.49.  No coupons used.

1 10lb Publix Sugar - $4.99.  No coupons used.

2 Snausages - $2.99 BOGO.  I paid $.99 for both.  Used 2 of the $1/1 Snausages Publix printable coupons. I had hoped to find peelies to makes these a MM, but it did not work out!

1 Beyond Meat Chicken Strips - $5.49.  I paid FREE.  Used 1 FREE PRODUCT  printable coupon.  I also received $1 rebate from IBOTTA.

2 Hillshire Farm Link Sausage - $6.98 ($3.69 and $3.29).  I paid $4.48 for both.  Used 2 of the $.75/1 Hillshire Farm printable (no longer available?) AND $1/2 Hillshire Farm Publix coupon from green "Healthy Savings" flyer.

1 Dove Deodorant - $2.63 BOGO!!!  I paid $.32.  Used $1/1 Dove Deodorant Target printable coupon.

My total was $27.54, saving $39.71.  Not at all an awesome shop AND I need to pick up more stuff for the homeless.  My kids will love that.

Week 33 - The Game Plan

Well, it's soup time for our homeless friends.  Since my Publix only allows 10 same items per purchase I got an early jump on things.  Here's what I've gotten so far:

10 Campbell's condensed soup - 10/$10 - I paid $.36 each.  Used 2 of the $2/5 Campbell's Publix Best Meals emailed coupon AND 3 of the $.40/3 Campbell's  printable (which all doubled to $.80),  These are for our homeless friends.

4 Suave Natural Infusions Shampoo - Sales Price $3.00.  I paid FREE!  Used 4 of the $1.50/1 Suave Natural Infusion (only the gold bottle) from 3/9 RP insert AND 4 of the $1.50/1 Suave Target printable coupons.  I totally forgot about the limit 2, and the cashier/register took all 4 just fine - that was my bad!

1 Oscar Mayer Bologna - Sales Price $3.00 BOGO.  I paid $.75.  Used $.75/1 Oscar Mayer Bologna 16oz printable.  My kids LOVE bologna - yuck!!!!

My total was $4.35, or 5.82 after tax, saving $28.84.

***Note, the Healthy Request variety are also included in this sale, so if you have 2 of the $1.50/2 Campbell's Healthy Request coupons and stack that with the $2/5 Best Meals coupon you will get 5 cans of soup for free!

My Weekly Shop

I'm going to have to admit that I'm not entirely sure why I bought anything this week at Publix for myself.  I really didn't need anything after I ran into Aldi to buy milk and veg.  Of course I wanted to take advantage of the great deals though, so here it is:

4 Cool Whip - BOGO $1.75.  I paid $.33 each or $1.32 for all 4.  Used 4 of the $.55/1 Cool Whip Publix coupons from Basket of Savings booklet.

5 Smithfield Ham Slices - BOGO $3.49.  I paid $.99 each, or $4.95 for all 5.  I used 5 of the $.75/1 Smithfield Anytime from 3/9 RP insert.  I love, love, love these for a super quick meal!

2 Triscut - 2/$5.  I paid $3.00. for both.  Used 2 of the $1/1 Triscut printable from coupons.com.  I also received $1 deposit from Checkout51.

2 Ronzoni Pasta - BOGO $1.49.  I paid $.49 for both.  Used $1/2 Ronzoni Kroger mailer coupon.

2 Ritz Crackers - BOGO $2.99.  I paid $.99 for both.  Used 2 of the $.50/1 Nabisco crackers printable (NLA? which doubled to $1).  I like these to make homemade lunchables for my kids.

2 Oscar Mayer Bologna - BOGO $2.99.  I paid $1.50 for both.  Used 2 of the $.75/1 Oscar Mayer Ham or Bologna printables - NLA.

1 Suave Natural Infusions Shampoo - $3.00.  I paid FREE.  Used 1 of the $1.50/1 Suave Natural Infusion (only the gold bottle) from 3/9 RP insert AND 1 of the $1.50/1 Suave Target printable coupons.

5 Campbells Condensed Soup - 10/$10 - I paid FREE.  Used 1 of the $2/5 Campbells Publix Best Meals emailed coupon AND 2 of the $1.50/2 Campbells Healthy Request soup printable - NLA.

I also bought the following veg and used a $1/$4 fresh produce Kroger emailed coupon:
2 Cucumbers - $1.38.
Campari Tomatoes - $2.50.
Green Onions - $.75.  I rarely buy these because I never cut the root end off.  I chop the green, then place the remainder of the onion in water on my kitchen window sill.  The green will grow back...over and over again.

My total was $15.78 (because the cashier mistakenly keyed in an extra $.10 on one of the coupons), or $18.82 after tax, saving 48.69.  Obviously my total would have been better had I had a competitor coupon, but overall I'm happy to have some extra stuff in the freezer!

End of Week Totals - Week 32

This was actually a pretty difficult week food-wise.  Personal care items came by easily, but I was very, very concerned about how much food we would have.  Thankfully at the last minute there were a ton of protein bars donated, so that helped a lot.  It was really nice this past Saturday "kicking it old school" meaning that it was basically just me handing out all the food for the week, while all the other volunteers handled clothing and hot food.  Unfortunately with all the new folks that have popped up in tent city, there wasn't nearly enough deodorant or toothbrushes as these people basically have nothing.  It was truly awesome to be able to help these poor folks out in some tiny way at least.

This was my donation:

At Publix:
20 Mahatma Rice - Sales Price $.69 each.  I paid $.63 for 2, or $6.30 for all 20.  Used 10 of the $.75/2 Mahatma Rice from 1/27 RP insert.

8 Speed Stick - Sales Price $2.15 BOGO.  I paid $.15 for 2, or $.60 for all 8.  Used 8 of the $1/1 Speed Stick from 3/9 SS insert.

2 HALLS - Sales Price $1.45 BOGO.  I paid $.45.  I used $1/2 HALLS blinkie.

1 BIC Silky Razors - Sales Price $3.29.  I paid FREE.  I used $3/1 BIC from 3/9 SS insert AND 1 $2/1 Any Shaving Product Kroger mailer coupon.

2 Dole Pineapple - Sales Price 4/$3.  I paid $.50 for 2.  Used 1 of the $.50/2 Dole canned fruit (which doubled to $1).

At WalMart:
9 BIC Disposable Razors - Sales Price $2.68.  I paid FREE.  I used 9 of the $3/1 BIC disposable from 3/9 SS insert.

At Kroger:
5 Reach Toothbrush - Sales Price $1.00.  I paid FREE.  I used 5 of the $1/1 Reach from 1/26 SS insert.

At Dollar Tree:
11 Wolf Chili - Price was $1.00.  I paid $.45 each.  I used 11 of the $.55/1 Wolf Chili Blinkie coupons I had gotten from Kroger and Publix!

I very selfishly used all of my overages this week to buy perennials and milk.  I don't know what to say other than I have a serious case of spring fever!

Thanks for the Donation Kim!

Last Saturday, one of our newer volunteers Kim handed me $10 to spend on food this week (her reasoning of course was that I would be able to buy more with coupons).  Well, normally I would be all excited about this, but this week has been so strange as far as matchups for food for our homeless friends!  So Kim, I did the best I could:

8 Chef Boyardee - Sales Price $1.49 BOGO.  I paid $4.00 for all 8.  Used 2 of the $1/4 Chef Boyardee Blinkie coupons.

I'm So Excited!!!

Thanks to a donation to the organization AND websites like IHeartPublix.com, for the early information, my fellow coupon-er Russell and I were able to put together an awesome treat for our homeless friends this weekend.  We actually get to hand out a full size peanut butter, tuna salad and bread and jelly!!!!  I'm super excited because this is definitely not something that I could pull off on my own budget, and it will provide multiple meals throughout the week for our homeless friends- WOOHOO!!!

This is just the portion that I bought:
At Publix:
22 Planters Peanut Butter - Sales Price 2/$4.  I paid $1.50 each.  Used 11 of my $1/2 Planters nuts or peanut butter from 1/26 SS insert.

16 Starkist Tuna Salad Pouches - Sales Price $10/10.  I paid as little as $.23 each for 4, and then the remaining 12 I paid $.50 each.  Used 8 of the $1/2 Starkist Target coupons AND 2 of the $.55/2 Starkist printable (NLA).

So between this, Russell's portion and a few extra peanut butters I was able to pick up for my personal donation, our homeless friends will have a slightly easier week!

****I did contact the store manager to let them know we would be purchasing such a large amount.  He ordered a couple extra cases so they wouldn't run out.

Tuesday Freebies at Publix...of course!

I really wasn't going to run into Publix again for the Viva Italia sale, but so many awesome printable coupons popped up for freebies I just HAD to go.  Not really, but since I do pass the Publix at least twice a day it's really not that difficult!  Here's how it went down:

2 GM Cinnamon Toast Crunch - BOGO $3.59.  I paid $.84 for both.  I used 2 of the $.50/1 Cinnamon Toast Crunch printables (which doubled to $1) AND $.75/2 General Mills cereal Target printable coupon.

2 Zatarain Rice Mix - 10/$10.  They were FREE!  Used 2 of the $.50/1 Zatarain printable (which doubled to $1).  Use zip 01844.

4 Hunts Diced Tomato - $1.19 BOGO.  I paid $1.38 for all 4.  Used $1/4 Hunts Diced Tomato Publix Viva Italia hang tag.

2 Progresso Soup - $1.95 BOGO.  They were a $.05 MM!  Used 2 of the $1/1 Progresso soup printable.  Use zip 77477.

2 Progresso Recipe Starters - 2/$3.  They were FREE!  Used $1/2 Progresso Recipe Starters Publix Best Meals emailed coupon AND 2 of the $.50/1 Progresso Recipe Starters printable which doubled to $1.  I was super excited to see the Creamy Parmesan Basil one - more on that below....

1 Pepperidge Farm Texas Toast - $2.39 BOGO.  I paid $.20.  Used 1 $.50/1 Pepperidge Farm frozen rolls or bread printable (which doubled to $1).

My total was $2.87 before tax (I got back in the car and realized that one of the vendor coupons for $.50 did not multiply), saving $23.48.

******I use the Fire-Roasted Tomato Recipe Starters all the time as pizza sauce.  I mean what is the point of picking up free stuff if you can't use it?  BUT, I will never buy this Creamy Parmesan Basil one again!  I made a super quick pasta with chicken and the Bird's Eye Broccoli Stir Fry, and used this stuff as the sauce.  OMG - there is so much basil in this it is almost inedible!  I had even thinned out the sauce with pasta water!  At the end of the day, I made it work with lots of greek yogurt and a pad a butter, but NEVER, NEVER picking this up again!!!!  I think I'm still breathing the basil taste and we had that 2 nights ago.  Yuck.  And I like basil!

CVS Grocery Clearance!

I walked into CVS yesterday to snag the "free" candy (meaning you pay for it, but receive the exact amount back in ECBs) and while I was there I noticed that there were tons of markdowns on grocery items!!!!  Woohoo!!  Personally, I am always skeptical of food being marked down, but I checked expiration dates and everything look fine.  I love, love, love Clarence (aka clearance)!  Clarence plus coupons is the best boyfriend ever (at least that's what I tell my husband anyway).  I digress....here's what I bought for my homeless friends:

4 Skippy Peanut Butter - Clarence said they were $.89 each!  No coupons used.

2 South Beach Diet Protein Boxes - Clarence said $.99 each.  I used 1 $2.50/2 South Beach Diet bars from 2/9 SS insert making these a $.52 MM.

So, thus far I spent $3.04 for the homeless.  YAY!

Oh, and here is a pick for all the doubters...Clarence rarely lies.

Week 30 - End of Week Totals

I'm more than a little unimpressed with myself for these totals last week.  Sometimes it all just doesn't come together like you want to, but I know for a fact that this week is going to rock.  Here's was my personal donation:

2 Lipton Tea - Sales Price $1.29 each.  My Price $.58 for both.  Used 2 $1/1 Litpon Tea Publix Best Meals coupons.
